Ed Felten
Ed Felton is the Co-Founder and Chief Scientist of Offchain Labs, the original contributor to Arbitrum, the leading Layer 2 scaling solution on Ethereum. Since the company's inception in September 2018, he has been spearheading the development of the Arbitrum scalability solution, bringing his extensive expertise to the role.
Prior to co-founding Offchain Labs, Ed was a Professor of Computer Science and Public Affairs at Princeton University. From 2015 to 2017, he took leave from Princeton to serve as Deputy U.S. Chief Technology Officer at the White House. Ed has also held other notable positions at the intersection of technology and public policy, including serving as Chief Technologist of the Federal Trade Commission and as a Board Member of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board since October 2018.
Ed's received a B.S. in Physics from Caltech followed by a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Washington. As a leading mind in computer science and cryptography, Ed is the guiding force in Offchain Labs' mission to bring secure, low-cost scaling to Ethereum and other blockchains through Arbitrum technology.
