Seth Bannon is Founding Partner at Fifty Years, a San Francisco based seed fund that backs entrepreneurs solving the world’s biggest problems with deep technology. Fifty Years specializes in supporting founders at the earliest stages in synthetic biology, climate tech, techbio, and other verticals that require building in atoms in addition to bits.

Seth has seeded many breakout startups shaping the world for the better – companies like Solugen (carbon negative chemicals), Upside Foods (formerly Memphis Meats, culturing meat to eat), Astranis (satellite connectivity), Substack (future of publishing), and Varda (in-space manufacturing). Passionate about helping PhDs spinout startups from academia, he and Fifty Years recently published the Spinout Playbook.

Seth is also Co-founder of Impact.Tech, a community of entrepreneurs combining purpose with profit. He was previously co-founder and CEO of a tech startup. Seth can occasionally be found in parks around the world attempting to hustle chess hustlers.
