Tanaya is a reporter at CNBC covering markets and investing with a focus on crypto. She periodically appears on CNBC’s live TV stream and her stories are regularly published on CNBC.com and CNBC PRO. Additionally, she’s one of the hosts of CNBC’s daily digital show “Crypto World.”

Having covered the digital assets industry professionally for 10 years, Tanaya views market moving events and industry developments through a uniquely long lens that helps guide and shape her coverage. She began her career at CoinDesk around the time of the Mt. Gox collapse in 2014, before moving on to American Banker, when Wall Street banks began exploring the potential blockchain technology could one day have on their industry. In addition to “distributed ledger technology” she covered U.S. bank and payments technology broadly.

In 2018 Tanaya brought her fintech and crypto reporting to Cheddar – including the rise of Robinhood and investing giants’ tectonic shift to zero-commission trading fees, as well as the crypto market recovery from the next big crash, the crypto fever that briefly turned brands into “blockchain companies” and Facebook’s early attempts to launch a stablecoin. She also hosted Cheddar’s weekly show “The Crypto Craze.”

Tanaya began working at CNBC in 2021, marking a shift in her reporting focus from technology to markets. She is based out of the company’s Global Headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, N.J. and resides in New York City.
